Pseudomonas folliculitis?

This post is not for the weak-stomached.

Last wednesday night after an intermural basketball game, we found our friends (Todd Greene's roommates) Devon and Steve in the hot tub. [Our balcony/porch is above the hot tub]. After a little coercing, Megan and I joined them. On Friday morning at work my back was SO ITCHY...on friday night I started itching my back again and found a blob of raised, red, itchy bumps but when i scratched, it hurt. Me and the girls starting searching online for what it could be. The most likely thing that fit the description (after being in a hot tub) was

Pseudomonas folliculitis.

Its inflammation of the hair follicle after being exposed to contaminated bacteria infested water such as the Roman Gardens hot tub. Megan had two tiny spots that looked like mine. The boys had nothing. By Sunday, megan's spot had gone away and mine was spreading--now on more of my back and starting to appear on my chest. But Sunday night I was in itching-annoying-painful pain and it was spreading. This morning I got up, went to the health center and found it it's not

Pseudomonas folliculitis

I actually have....

herpes zoster. [shingles.]
yes, the old-person-chicken pox.

I had easily misdiagnosed myself and now I am clearly seeing that it's shingles. All on one side of my body, it's PAINFUL, same derma-band wrapping around...anyways, i'll be fine after a week. I'm just grateful for home-teachers that respond to your 9am text asking for a blessing. amazing!

So sorry you had this. What a bummer! Glad you went to the HC to find out what it actually was. Good luck with it!
